§ Mr. Trotterasked the Secretary of State for Defence when he expects the Services to leave the base in Mauritius; what rôle has been played by the base; and how that rôle will be met in future.
§ Mr. JuddHMS "Mauritius" provided communications facilities for RN ships in the Indian Ocean area, British Forces in the Far East and to littoral Indian Ocean countries. These were closed down on 1st December, and all RN personnel should have left Mauritius 439W by 31st March 1976. Where necessary, alternative facilities have been provided.
