HC Deb 15 December 1975 vol 902 c497W
Mr. Wall

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what are the main sources of the United Kingdom's chrome imports; what is the respective price per ton; and how this compares with the price of Rhodesian chrome.

Mr. Deakins

During January to Octo-1975 the main countries supplying chrome ores and concentrates were South Africa and the Philippines. Prices for particular qualities are not readily available, but the average cif values per metric ton derived from the overseas trade statistics during the above period were £24.6 and £33.9 respectively; these figures are not true prices as they are influenced by differences in grade, transport costs and certain other factors. Price information for Rhodesia is not available.
