asked the Secretary of State for Defence what sums have been spent on overseas arms purchases in the years 1974 and 1975 to date, respectively.

As shown in the Statement on Defence Estimates 1975, purchases of defence equipment from overseas in the financial year 1974–75 amounted to £120 million and the forecast for 1975–76 is £130 million. These figures exclude transactions in respect of collaborative projects which are generally self-balancing.
