HC Deb 11 December 1975 vol 902 cc323-4W
Mr. Norman Lamont

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1) whether he will consider increasing the amounts of money that any one individual can invest in the Government's index-linked savings scheme;

(2) whether he will extend the index-linked saving scheme to include children under 16 years.

Mr. Dell

All national savings facilities are regularly reviewed. The Government have no plans to extend the indexed savings schemes, which were introduced as a modest experiment to help protect at least some elements of small savings without risking the extension of indexation into capital markets generally.
