HC Deb 11 December 1975 vol 902 c296W
11. Mr. Hastings

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he will introduce an indexing system for the price of milk to the dairy farmer based upon overheads and input costs.

Mr. Peart

No. Changes in the costs of production are one of the factors taken into account by Agriculture Ministers in determining the guaranteed price for milk in the light of the annual review.

50. Mr. Boscawen

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will take steps to ensure that adequate supplies of milk will reach the creameries and milk product factories in the South-West Region to avoid future unemployment during the winter.

Mr. Bishop

We have taken steps to improve the position of milk producers. Milk production has increased recently over last year's level. 5 per cent. more milk was available for manufacture in October and 20–25 per cent. more in November than in the same period of 1974. There has been a resumption of butter production.
