HC Deb 11 December 1975 vol 902 cc338-9W
Mr. Adley

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if, in accordance with paragraph 5.1(ii) of his Department's "Airport Strategy for Great Britain", he will confirm that the three airports therein listed are not considered to be in South-East England for the purposes of airport planning.

Mr. Clinton Davis

The future rôle of the three airports, at Bournemouth, Birmingham and East Midlands, will be considered in the consultation document on regional airports which I hope to publish early next year.

Mr. Adley

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if, in accordance with paragraphs 2.8 and 2.12 of his Department's "Airport Strategy for Great Britain" he will confirm that future airport developments in Great Britain will be designed to cater for traffic serving an area reasonably adjacent to the airport.

Mr. Clinton Davis

I cannot anticipate the consultations on this document and the second document on regional airports, which will allow those concerned to present their views on the way air traffic demand in different areas should be met.
