§ Mr. Hoosonasked the Secretary of State for Energy whether he has considered allowing a rebate to retirement pensioners on the cost of heating fuels in the coming winter.
§ Mr. BennRetirement pensioners will be helped to meet their heating bills in the coming winter by the action taken by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Social Services, who has increased retirement pension and supplementary pension rates as from 17th November, and by the fact that at the same time the discretionary extra heating additions payable to supplementary pensioners who need extra heating were substantially increased. The Government are keeping the matter under review.
