Mr. MacGregor

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list the various mileage allowances for all appropriate groups in local government.

Mr. Oakes

Mileage allowances for members of local authorities are specified in the Department's Circular 25/75. I am sending a copy to the hon. Member. My right hon. Friend has no responsibility for the mileage allowances paid to local authority employees, but I am sure the Local Authority Conditions of Service Advisory Board will provide them on request.

My right hon. Friend has no responsibility for these allowances but I am sure details would be supplied to the hon. Member by the British Railways Board on request.
