Mr. Hooley

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will list in the Official Report the contributions from public funds during 1975–76 to voluntary bodies or organisations concerned generally with the promotion of understanding, research and commentary on international affairs, including matters concerning the Commonwealth, Europe, the Atlantic Community, the United Nations and its agencies and bilateral links with particular countries.

Mr. Ennals

In 1975–76, provision has been made in Foreign and Commonwealth Office Votes for payments to the following voluntary bodies of organisations. In some cases the amount shown is a flat grant or subscription, and in others it represents a ceiling within which the body receives reimbursement of certain actual expenses.

Subscriptions of £50 or less are paid to some 20 other bodies.

In addition, subject to parliamentary approval, grants of £20,000, £6,000 and £1,000 will be made in 1975–76 to the Royal Institute of International Affairs, the United Nations Association and the Welsh Centre for International Affairs, respectively.
