Non-Teaching Hospitals (formerly administered by Regional Hospitals Boards)
Acute (over 100 beds) £15.47 per in-patient day
Psychiatric:
Mental illness £5.23 per in-patient day
Mental handicap £4.81 per in-patient day
London Teaching Hospitals
Acute (over 100 beds) £22.03 per in-patient day
Provincial Teaching Hospitals
Acute (over 100 beds) £18.79 per in-patient day

Further information is contained in "Hospital Costing Returns—year ended 31st March 1974 "—published by HMSO, a copy of which is available in the House of Commons Library.

The Department of Health and Social Security does not collect information about payments made by private patients for their treatment outside the NHS.
