brigade was called to a fire at the Central Cold Storage Company, Leamore Lane, Walsall. The premises comprised a single-storey brick building, with a corrugated asbestos roof and polystyrene and steel insulation panels. The building contained a large quantity of fats, butter, meat and vegetables. The fire, which is thought to have been caused by the ignition of polystyrene panels by sparks from oxyacetylene equipment 587W used during construction work, severely damaged the building and its contents, and 10 firemen suffered minor injuries.
