§ Mr. EadieMy right hon. Friend is satisfied with the current methods of storing radioactive waste. Storage at sites licensed by the Health and Safety Executive under the Nuclear Installations Act 1965 is subject to strict control by the Nuclear Installations Inspectorate which ensures that the highest standards of safety are maintained. The same standards are applied by the Atomic Energy Authority and Government Departments for installations under their control.
