HC Deb 11 April 1975 vol 889 c494W
Mrs. Winifred Ewing

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what steps he proposes to take to correct the imbalance in total family income disclosed in the Government's Family Expenditure Survey, which indicated a per capita differential between Scotland and the South-East of England of 32.6 per cent.

Mr. Gregor Mackenzie

We are working hard to attract new industry to Scotland and are particularly keen to encourage projects offering skilled jobs and high wage rates. When the Scottish Development Agency, the National Enterprise Board and the planning agreements system come into operation we shall be able to do even more. Recent decisions on the dispersal of Government work from London will also increase the range of jobs available in Scotland.
