HC Deb 10 April 1975 vol 889 cc479-80W
Mr. Hooley

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will take steps to remove the EEC export levy on the confectionery exports of British firms including the Sheffield firm of A. L. Simpkins, in view of the effect on exports to Australia and the Far East of this levy.

Mr. Bishop

I am fully aware of the problems facing United Kingdom confectionery exporters, and we are taking an active part in discussions within the Community on the future of this levy. I am also considering, in consultation with interested trade associations, other possible ways of alleviating the difficulties.
