§ Mr. StrangIt is an offence under the Food and Drugs Acts and Labelling Regulations made under them to describe falsely any food. Purchasers must be given the true nature of foods to which processed vegetable proteins are added. For foods that are not prepacked this can be done by ticket or bill of fare or in the case of a sale in a restaurant or cafe by word of mouth. Representations are being received on the Food Standards Committee's Report on Novel Protein Foods and these will be considered in order to decide whether proposals should be made for changes in the regulations.
