asked the Secretary of State for Industry if he keeps a list of possible nominees for public bories and committees to which he is entitled to nominate; how many names are now before him; and how many of them are women.

Mr. Benn,

pursuant to the earlier reply [Official Report, 17th March 1975; Vol. 888, c. 287], gave the following information:

I am very anxious to increase the number of women on the list of people kept by the Department as being suitable for public appointments and should warmly welcome nominations to fill this gap in a list which is at present overwhelmingly male-dominated.
