HC Deb 28 November 1974 vol 882 cc203-4W
30. Mr. Teddy Taylor

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will set up a commission to consider the dispersal of the headquarters staff of the nationalised industries from London, along the lines of the inquiry made by Sir Henry Hardman.

Mr. Joel Barnett

No. The Government expect the nationalised industries and private concerns to be alert to the opportunities for dispersal and to take advantage of these whenever it is in their interest to do so. We intend that when the British National Oil Corporation is set up its main location will be in Scotland and that the headquarters of the nationalised shipbuilding organisation will be in an assisted area.
