§ Mr. Joel BarnettThe latest estimate of the United Kingdom's gross contribution to the Communities budget in 1974– 75 is about £212 million. The latest estimate of receipts is about £156 million, giving a figure for net contributions of about £56 million. For details of other receipts from the Communities I would refer the hon. Member to the reply given by my right hon. Friend the Paymaster General to my hon. Friend the Member for Manchester, Blackley (Mr. Rose) on 18th November. Given the uncertainties about the interest rates of alternative sources of finance, it is not possible to give a meaningful estimate of the financial benefits of low interest rate loans.
