§ Mr. Litterickasked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will take steps to confer upon members of Her Majesty's Armed Forces the same rights to trade union membership and formal autonomous representation as are presently enjoyed by their fellow citizens.
§ Mr. William RodgersService men may belong to trade unions provided that their trade union obligations while serving do not lead them into conflict with Service discipline. Conflicts of this kind would clearly arise if they were represented by trade unions for purposes of negotiating pay and conditions of service with the ultimate sanction of the right to strike.
