HC Deb 25 November 1974 vol 882 c11W
Mr. D. E. Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what was the number of Welsh-born persons residing in England in 1971.

Mr. John Morris

No information is available about the number of Welsh-born persons usually resident in England. At the 1971 Census of Population there were 663,460 persons enumerated in England who had been born in Wales. This figure includes persons visiting England who were usually resident elsewhere and who were born in Wales, but it excludes Welsh-born persons usually resident in England who were not in England on Census night.
