HC Deb 25 November 1974 vol 882 c74W
Mr. Michael McGuire

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what services a doctor has to provide to his patients when he enters into a contractual arrangement with the appropriate area medical practitioners committee.

Dr. Owen

The terms of service of general medical practitioners require that a doctor shall render to his patients all necessary and appropriate personal medical services of the type usually provided by general medical practitioners. Such services include arrangements for referring patients as necessary to any other services provided under the Health Service Acts and advice to enable them to take advantage of the local authority social services.
