Mr. Hooleyasked the Minister of Overseas Development what progress is being made by the United Kingdom in the current financial year towards the United Nations aid target of 0.7 per cent, of gross national product; what improvement is expected in 1975–76; and when it is estimated that the target will be achieved.
§ Mrs. HartActual expenditure on the aid programme in 1974–75 is aimed at a total of £325 million net; the figures for 1975–76 and later years will be announced in the Government's forthcoming White Paper on public expenditure. The Government do not provide forecasts of gross natural product and I cannot therefore give the estimates my hon. Friend would like.
