asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many abortions were notified as being carried out in England and Wales on women whose normal place of residence was Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic in the first nine months of 1974.

Notifications received in the 39 weeks ended 2nd October 1974 included 825 and 1,057 relating to women stated to be normally resident in Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic respectively.
