§ Mr. Roy JenkinsThe central recruitment campaign for the police in England and Wales is sponsored and undertaken by my Department in consultation with the local authority associations and chief officers of police. We draw our advice from the Central Office of Information and other expert sources. In addition I receive recommendations on this subject from many quarters, including the police representative bodies and most recently the Expenditure Committee of this House.
