HC Deb 18 November 1974 vol 881 c314W
Mr. Geraint Howells

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (1) how much meat will be imported into Great Britain during the next three months from the EEC countries;

(2) how much meat will be imported into Great Britain during the next months.

Mr. Bishop

Meat imports during the next three months will depend on a number of factors including any EEC rules and the commercial judgment of our meat traders. For the last comparable period, December, January, February 1973–74, United Kingdom imports of all fresh frozen or chilled meat from the Community amounted to some 31,000 tons. Imports from all sources over the same period amounted to some 120,000 tons. Information on imports into Great Britain only is not available.
