HC Deb 12 November 1974 vol 881 cc118-20W
Mr. Wyn Roberts

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will publish figures showing the monthly figures of housing starts, under construction and completions, in the public and private sectors separately, for 1974 to date, 1973 and 1972.

Mr. John Morris

The information requested for 1972, 1973 and the first quarter of 1974 is contained in the Digest of Welsh Statistics, Volumes 19 and 20, copies of which are in the Library. The relevant tables in each volume are as follows:

Year Volume Number Table Number
1972 19 52
1973 20 2.22
1974 (1st quarter) 20 2.22

The corresponding data for the second quarter of 1947 are as follows:

progress towards comprehensive secondary education in the local education authority containing the Bedwellty constituency;

(2) when he proposes to authorise proposals for the necessary additions to school and college buildings to permit the change to comprehensive secondary education in the local education authority containing the Bedwellty constituency.

Mr. John Morris

I am satisfied that local education authorities in Wales have made good progress towards a fully comprehensive system of secondary education consistent with the availability of resources.

I am considering with my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Edu cation and Science the submission from the Gwent Local Education Authority for capital allocations to enable it to carry out a reorganisation in the Sirhowy and Western Valleys.

Mr. Kinnock

asked the Secretary of State for Wales how many local education authorities in Wales have not implemented in full their proposals for comprehensive secondary education.

Mr. Barry Jones
