HC Deb 08 November 1974 vol 880 c236W
Mr. Moate

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many appeals he has received this year from parents dissatisfied with the allocation of school places by the education authority; and in how many instances he has supported the parents' case.

Mr. Armstrong

About 750 appeals have been received in relation to the allocation of school places for September 1974. A considerable number have, after correspondence between the Department and the local education authority concerned, been settled to the satisfaction of the parent, but the precise figure is not known.
