HC Deb 08 November 1974 vol 880 cc273-4W
Mrs. Bain

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many miles of motorway in Scotland satisfy the definition of motorway as defined for England and Wales.

Mr. William Ross

About 110 miles. Motorways in Scotland, England and Wales are all built under the same statutory provisions—the Special Roads Act 1949, which, in the case of England and Wales, is now consolidated in the Highways Act 1959.
