Mr. Michael Latham

asked the Secretary of State for Employment whether he will set out in tabular form, for each region, the number of unemployed workers who previously worked in the construction industry, by trade, and the number of reported unfilled vacancies in each case.

For occupations in construction, statistics of the numbers unemployed relate to males who last worked in the industry and are registered at employment offices. The corresponding vacancy statistics relate only to vacancies notified to employment offices and do not measure the total unsatisfied demand for labour. The figures do not include unemployment and vacancies at careers offices. Following is the available information:
