§ Mr. OakesThree local commissioners for England have been appointed under Part III of the Local Government Act 1974. Their function is to consider written complaints of maladministration against local authorities, police authorities and water authorities.
The commission has allocated territories between the three commissioners as follows:
Baroness Serota, Chairman
- Authorities other than water authorities in Greater London, Surrey, Kent, East and West Sussex. The Thames and southern water authorities.
Mr. F. P. Cook
- Authorities other than water authorities in Northumberland, Cumbria, Durham, Tyne and Wear, Cleveland, Merseyside, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, Humberside, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. The North-west Northumbrian, Yorkshire and Anglian water authorities.
Mr. D. B. Harrison
- Authorities other than water authorities in Cheshire, Salop, Staffordshire, West Midlands, Hereford and Worcester, Warwickshire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Cornwall (with Isles of Scilly), Devon, Somerset, Avon, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Dorset, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Essex, Berkshire, Hampshire, and the Isle of Wight. The Severn-Trent, Wessex and South West water authorities.
