§ Mr. Hayhoeasked the Secretary of State for Employment what percentage of the number of industrial disputes and of the days lost as a result was caused by the Industrial Relations Act during the period from 1st July 1970 until the repeal of the Act this year; and what percentage 95W of stoppages and days lost was caused by pay disputes during the same period.
§ Mr. BoothInformation cannot be given in the form requested by the hon. Member. The official series of statistics on industrial stoppages covers only stoppages over terms and conditions of employment. However, some other figures are available on stoppages whose principle cause is directly attributable to the Industrial Relations Act, and these are given below. Analyses by cause of the official series of statistics on stoppages are available only for each calendar year. Information on pay disputes and on stoppages caused by the Industrial Relations Act cannot therefore be given for comparable periods of time.
