HC Deb 24 May 1974 vol 874 cc345-6W
Sir Raymond Gower

asked the Secretary of State for Wales how many nurses are needed by hospitals in Wales and in South Glamorgan, respectively; and what plans he has for encouraging recruitment and training.

Mr. Rowlands

There are no generally accepted yardsticks for determining nursing establishments at hospitals. The position regarding vacancies at particular hospitals varies from day to day and recruitment display has been set up by precise figures cannot be given.

A new bilingual mobile NHS staff the Welsh Office and will be touring Wales later this summer. Training is the responsibility of statutory and nonstatutory bodies, but my right hon. and learned Friend is prepared at all times to assist and support their work.
