asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he is now able to announce any proposals to recompense investors in the former Mersey Docks and Harbour Board.

Amendments made by the High Court to the capital reconstruction scheme under the 1971 Act will increase the amounts repayable to investors. For their part, the Government have given up the previous priority status of their loans and concluded with regret that they have no power to take any further action.
