HC Deb 24 May 1974 vol 874 c295W
Mr. Tierney

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many employers in the area covered by the Small Heath and Washwood Heath employment offices are not employing the 3 per cent, quota of registered disabled persons.

Mr. John Fraser

At the last annual count, in May 1973, 150 employers with quota obligations in the area covered by the Small Heath office and 36 in the area covered by the Washwood Heath office were below quota. The 1974 annual count is now taking place.

Mr. Tierney

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what system of recording is operated by the local offices of the Department to ascertain that employers are employing the 3 per cent. quota of registered disabled persons.

Mr. John Fraser

Employers make an annual return in May to employment offices giving information about their quota position. This is recorded by these offices and is updated during the course of the year in the light of information received by the disablement resettlement officers during their placing activities, and from inspections carried out by the Wages Inspectorate.
