§ Mr. Georgeasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what progress she is making in her examination of ways of introducing greater democratic control into the National Health Service; and when she expects to publish her proposals.
§ Mrs. CastleMy proposals for changes in the constitution of the health authorities in England and for strengthening the role of community health councils are set out in a paper which I expect to publish on 30th May. I am asking for comments to be sent to my Department by 31st July. Copies of the paper will be available to hon. Members from the Vote Office, and it will be on public sale through HMSO with the title "Democracy in the National Health Service—Members of Health Authorities".
