HC Deb 20 May 1974 vol 874 cc49-50W
Mr. Winterton

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if she is aware of the difficulty in obtaining dental treatment under the National Health Service in the Macclesfield and Congleton area; and what steps she proposes to take to rectify the situation.

Dr. Owen

I am aware that some people in these areas have experienced difficulty in obtaining treatment but understand that the number of dentists in contract with the National Health Service in these areas has risen by five over the last two years. The Cheshire Family Practitioner Committee, though having no power to direct a practitioner to accept any patient, is always willing to assist patients in their area who experience difficulty.
