HC Deb 03 May 1974 vol 872 c249W
Mr. Kinnock

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what was the total taxation revenue received from pensioners over the age of 65 years with incomes of over £1,250 per annum, inclusive of pension, in the last three years for which figures are available.

Dr. Gilbert

For male pensioners over 65 and female pensioners over 60, the information for the last three years for which figures are available is as follows:

£ million
1968–69 305
1969–70 395
1970–71 510
NOTE. Statistics here are prepared largely on the basis of the receipt of national insurance retirement pension; we cannot eliminate the incomes of women pensioners between 60 and 65.
