HC Deb 03 May 1974 vol 872 c301W
Mr. William Shelton

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science, in view of the fact that, in order to accept a new post for the school year commencing in September, any teacher with an existing appointment must resign by 31st May, if he will expedite the review of the London allowance in order to make a report before the end of May.

Mr. Armstrong

My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Employment has emphasised to the Pay Board the importance the Government attach to the earliest possible completion of its review of London weighting. The Pay Board has assured him that everything possible will be done to produce the report quickly, but it cannot be expected before June.
