HC Deb 03 May 1974 vol 872 c582W
Mr. Shersby

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in view of the present rent freeze, the 1973 revaluation of properties for rating purposes will continue to be used by the Inland Revenue in calculating the amount of income tax payable by individuals whose employers provide them with living accommodation at less than normal rent, and if he will make a statement.

Dr. Gilbert,

pursuant to his reply, [OFFICIAL REPORT, 1st May 1974; Vol. 872], gave the following information

The rating assessment figures provide the appropriate yardstick by which to measure the benefit in these cases, and I do not think that the introduction of the rent freeze affects this.
