§ Mr. Gwilym Robertsasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will introduce legislation to provide that the cost of police protection in connection with sporting activities should be borne by the clubs concerned.
§ Dr. SummerskillThere is already provision in Section 15 of the Police Act 1964 which enables police authorities to charge football clubs and others for any special police services provided to them. My right hon. Friend does not consider that any further legislation is needed, but as this issue is rather complex my noble Friend the Minister of State will write to my hon. Friend about it.
