§ The Prime MinisterNo. As I told my hon. Friend on 11th April, the total cost of the salaries of Dr. Donoughue's unit is some £35,000 per annum. I do not intend to publish details of individual salaries.

§ Mr. Ralph Howellasked the Prime Minister whether he can now say how many new political assistants have been appointed from outside the Civil Service to advise Ministers since the present Government took office; and what is the estimated total annual cost of these appointments to the taxpayer.
