HC Deb 02 May 1974 vol 872 c510W
45. Mr. Fidler

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what action is being taken in respect of the two Arab Yemenis detained on arrival at Heathrow Airport on Thursday 25th April requesting permission to stay for a few days and found to be in possession of a quantity of arms; for how long they were interrogated at Ealing police station; and whether he will now prefer charges against them in view of the international obligation to assist in the apprehension and detention of potential hijackers and terrorists.

Dr. Summerskill

These two men were refused leave to enter and were removed on 27th April. They were at Ealing police station from 25th to 27th April. The institution of criminal proceedings is not a matter for my right hon. Friend but I understand that there was no reason to believe that they were potential hijackers or terrorists.
