§ Dr. GilbertOn the basis of arbitrary and uncertain assumptions about the tax attributable to economic activity in Scotland it is estimated that, for the year 1971–72, Scotland contributed 8¾ per cent. of total United Kingdom central Government tax revenue—that is, excluding national insurance contributions and local rates.
