asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether she will take steps to enable the wives of men of pensionable age to obtain prescriptions free of charge under National Health Service regulations in advance of the full repeal of prescription charges.

As my right hon. Friend told the House on 15th March, during the debate on the Address, she is considering whether it is possible to remove some anomalies in the present charging arrangements which have caused particular concern, and an announcement will be made as soon as possible.
