Mr. Winterton

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many personal visits have been made by persons requiring advice or payment in connection with national insurance benefits or supplementary benefits to all offices of the Department of Health and Social Security in the Macclesfield and Congleton areas.

During the 12 months to 26th February 1974 there were 15,112 national insurance benefit and 13,349 supplementary benefit callers at the Macclesfield office; at the Congleton office the figures were 12,748 and 1,688 respectively.
