HC Deb 21 March 1974 vol 870 c131W
23. Mr. Sillars

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what economic policies he will pursue designed to bring down the level of unemployment.

Mr. Healey

We have already made a start on this task by getting industry back to work. Now we shall have to formulate policies for the development of industry, especially in the regions, in order to provide new jobs. But overall prospects for employment in the months ahead clearly also depend upon economic policies for the economy as a whole, and on these my hon. Friend should await my Budget Statement.
