HC Deb 18 March 1974 vol 870 c19W
26. Mr. Blenkinsop

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what is the number of inquiries current for new factories or factory extensions in the North-East and on Tyneside, respectively; and what prospective employment is involved.

Mr. Heffer

There are 36 current inquiries for new Government factories in the North-East, holding out the prospect of about 2,500 jobs. It is not possible to say how many of these may be accommodated on Tyneside. However, six of the inquiries are for extensions to existing factories, providing about 550 jobs, of which three are on Tyneside and will provide about 325 jobs.
