HC Deb 28 June 1974 vol 875 c552W
Mr. Sillars

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will publish figures showing the intake at each medical school in each of the past eight years; and if he will make a statement indicating current policy on expansion of places at medical schools.

Mr. Gerry Fowler

Present plans involve the continued expansion of medical education in Great Britain to provide over 4,000 pre-clinical entry places by the end of the decade. The statistical information requested is as follows:

for fees, books, summer schools and necessary travel expenses.

Mr. Gerry Fowler

Open University students are part-time, and my right hon. Friend does not at present envisage the introduction of mandatory awards for part-time students.
