§ LORD GARDINERasked Her Majesty's Government:
What conclusions they have reached on the Interim Report of the Law 1766WA Reform Committee on Limitation of Actions in personal injury claims.
§ THE LORD CHANCELLOR (LORD ELWYN-JONES)The Government accept the recommendations of the Law Reform Committee on Limitation of Actions in personal injury claims and intend to introduce legislation to implement them in due course. The Committee were not agreed on one point relating to the running of time in cases where knowledge of the cause of injury could have been acquired only with expert advice: The Government consider that the law should provide that in such circumstances a plaintiff should not lose his right to an extension of time if he has taken reasonable steps to obtain and act on expert advice, but has, nevertheless, still not acquired the necessary knowledge.
House adjourned at sixteen minutes past one o'clock.
