HC Deb 28 June 1974 vol 875 c571W
Mrs. Winifred Ewing

asked the Prime Minister if he will supply public funds to organisations supporting withdrawal from the EEC on the same scale and basis as the previous Government made available to the European Movement prior to Common Market entry.

Mr. Hattersley

I have been asked to reply.

It would not be appropriate to provide public funds for publicity either for or against membership of the Epropean Communities while we are renegotiating the terms of entry. The current grant in aid to the European Movement has been made on condition that it will not be used for political propaganda and that it will be applied exclusively for a programme of exchanges and visits with and to Western European countries outside as well as within the member countries of the European Community.
